Cerritos, Calif. - Casey Candelaria placed fourth in the women's 1500 meters and 11th in the 800 while teammate Katie Wilson ran sixth in the latter race to highlight Cal State Fullerton's performance Saturday in the first day of the Beach Track and Field Classic at Cerritos College.
Candelaria was clocked in 4:44.12 in the 1500, 3.4 seconds behind winner Erica Capellino of USC. Wilson's time in the 800 was 2:20.59, 15 seconds off the pace. Danielle Morton was sixth in the javelin at 37.09 meters and Juli Powelll took seventh in the pole vault at 3.40 meters.
The best finish on the men's side was 14th place -- by Marco Zaragoza in the 1500 at 4:02.39 and Gavin Couvrey-Jacobs in the 400 hurdles at 56.96.
