Flagstaff, Ariz. - Sophomore Ashley Sims broke the school record in the 60-yard dash and several of her teammates shattered personal bests Saturday for Cal State Fullerton at the NAU Open Indoor Track and Field Meet.


Sims was clocked in 7.65, besting the 2007 mark of 7.68 by Antonia Vega and matched in 2009 by Ciara Short. Sims finished third and teammate Katie Wilson was fourth in 7.78, her personal best. Wilson and Sims ran third and fourth, respectively, in the 200, which was won by former Titan Ciara Short, competing unattached. Wilson's time of 24.63 and Sims' time of 24.74 were personal bests. Short also won the 400.


The Titans ran second in the 4x400 relay. The team of Krizia Apelar, Elizabeth Claustro, Wilson and Deena Pierce was clocked in 3:55.07 to trail only UNLV. Wilson had the most impressive split at 53.88. Pierce also placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a PR of 8.80.


The distance runners competed Saturday at the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle. Lauren McIntyre was 17th in the 3000 meters, Casey Candelaria was 68th in a school record time of 5:11.35 and Tijerra Lynch was 78th in the mile and Jessica Feuerstine was 55th in the 800 meters.
