Fullerton, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton intramural sports teams no longer have to look forward to Daylight Savings Time and turning their clocks forward to gain more daylight to participate in intramurals. With the annual turning back of the clocks last Sunday, the Titans did not need to schedule any intramural events around the sunset as Monday marked the official grand opening of the new light fixtures over the east and west intramural fields.

As part of the Student Success Initiative, Cal State Fullerton received several high-quality LED lights to illuminate the IM fields. The new stadium lights were provided by Musco Lighting.

To celebrate the big event, Cal State Fullerton Vice President Dr. Berenecea Johnson Eanes, Director of Athletics Jim Donovan and Dr. David Forgues, were on hand as the Titans intramural football squad played under the lights.

“It is a delight to provide for our students,” Donovan said. “They are the reason we do what we do. To be able to give them a place to play once the sun has set is a testament to the benefits of the Student Success Initiative.”

In addition to having an opportunity to play under the new stadium lights, the first 200 students were given free pizza and water by the Cal State Fullerton Sports Marketing Department.

“I hope to see more intramural games being played into the evening hours,” Donovan stated. “It’s always nice to see our students active on campus.”
