ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Cal State Fullerton Dance Team clinched its 14th UDA/UCA Collegiate National Championship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., on Sunday.

The Titans competed in the Division I Jazz category, and finished ahead of fellow Big West competitor Long Beach State (5th).

“Today at finals was everything I was hoping for,” head coach Jennie Volkert said. “The team has worked so hard since September and nailed both of its performances this weekend. Our team represented CSUF with pure class, hard work and dedication. We were proud to wear our F across our chest and show the entire nation what the Cal State Fullerton Dance Team is all about. I love this program and feel so fortunate to be a part of all 14 Jazz National Titles.”

On Sunday afternoon, Fullerton finished second in the Division I Pom finals for the second straight year. Saint Joseph’s University placed first.

“Being an alumna of the dance team has definitely been a benefit in helping me contribute to the success of this program,” coach and choreographer Kenndra Alvarez (2005-08) said. “As a dancer, I knew what I personally had to do on that competition dance floor, so I find it easy to create those same elements when choreographing for the team. Song choice is where I begin my process and I bring the team’s personality and style into consideration. From there, it just always falls into place.”

"The moment when I heard Delaware announced in second place, I felt an instant rush of excitement, relief, shock, and then happy tears," team captain Brooke Cooper said. "Our team has worked so hard this season.  This is my third year experiencing the amazing feeling of winning first place, and I am proud to say we deserve it again. Each year gets harder and harder, however our coaches keep pushing us, keep believing in us, and our team work ethic is unlike any other. We mesh so well, strive for the same goal, and share the same passion. I am so proud of this team, and we did such an amazing job leaving our heart in Florida at UDA Nationals."
