All Spring Sports Canceled - Updated March 13

Big West Announces Spring Sports Canceled

March 13, 2020 - 7 p.m. PT

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Big West Conference Board of Directors today, Friday, March 13, moved from indefinitely suspending to canceling all spring conference and non-conference competition and championship events for the 2020 season. This action was taken following Thursday's NCAA announcement canceling all 2020 spring championships. Titan Athletics will be contacting season ticket holders and ticket patrons regarding the refund options.

The Big West Conference explained that its decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, its ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities.

Titan Athletics and Cal State Fullerton continue to monitor the situation as well as recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Orange County Department of Public Health, and we will work together with the Big West Conference as well as campus officials to make any additional changes deemed in the best interest of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the following steps to help keep our community safe:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your elbow.
  • Stay home if you are sick or have chronic breathing problems (including asthma, COPD, or emphysema).

Titan Athletics continues to incorporate enhanced cleaning measures and public hygiene practices, including numerous hand sanitizing stations, at its athletic facilities.

The COVID-19 situation and its impact on athletic department operations is fluid. Frequently updated information on COVID-19 from the university can be found here.
