Sabrina Hernandez joined the Cal State Fullerton program in the summer of 2022 as an assistant coach.

In her first year with the Titans in 2022, Hernandez helped guide the program to its most regular season wins since 2012, as the team went 13-15 overall. Cal State Fullerton boasted three All-Big West Conference selections in 2022, as Bianca Martinez was named to the All-Freshman Team and Elizabeth Schuster and Danielle Jefferies earned Big West Honorable Mention. 

Hernandez, a former Long Beach State setter and hall of famer, comes to the Titans after spending the previous four season as an assistant and as the interim head coach for the Beach. In her one year at the helm at Long Beach in 2021, Hernandez put five players on the All-Big West Conference team. She also helped guide LBSU to its first postseason apperance since 2014 as the Beach hosted the National Invitational Volleyball Championship in 2019. 

Prior to returning to Long Beach, Hernandez spent two years at UC Irvine, helping the team to a 24-8 record in 2017. That season, the Anteaters made their first postseason appearance since 2004. Hernandez had also spent nine years as an assistant coach at UC Irvine in a previous stint. 

Hernandez previously served as an assistant coach at Mater Dei High School and helped the Monarchs reach the Southern California Finals as well as capture the 2014 Trinity League title. She spent a season as the top assistant at Occidental College from 2011-12 and guided the program to its first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tounament championship. 

Hernandez spent the summer of 2005 as a member of the A2 High Performance USA National Team coaching staff, where she trained junior elite volleyball athletes to become future members of the Women's Olympic volleyball team. 

Following her graduation from Long Beach State, Hernandez began her coaching career at Oregon State. There she helped the Beavers clinch an NCAA postseason berth for the first time in 18 years in 2001. 

Hernandez played at the Beach from 1989-92 and guided Long Beach State to the Final Four in three of her four years on the court. She was a key member of the 1989 National Championship team and was a two-time AVCA First Team All-American. She also earned a pair of AVCA All-Regional honors. The two-time All-Big West selection was named a Volleyball First Team All-American her senior season. 

She ranks third all-time at Long Beach State with 4,796 career assists and is tied for ninth with 115 career aces. Hernandez also ranks second in the single-season record book with 1,735 assists in 1990 and fourth with 1,617 in 1991. 

Hernandez graduated from Long Beach State in 1994 with a degree in history and resides in Long Beach with her husband, Josh.
