Cal State Fullerton Athletics

Shakayla Collins joined Cal State Fullerton in October of 2017 as the Life Skills Coordinator for Athletics Academic Services and added Academic Counselor to her workload in the spring of 2019 and she works with the men's soccer program.

Prior to CSF, Collins worked in the Student-Athlete Support Services Office from August 2015 to May 2017 at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. As a graduate assistant for SASSO, Collins served as an Academic Mentor and Assistant Advisor for specified teams. She worked individually with both incoming and at-risk student-athletes on a weekly basis to provide a variety of educational support to aid student-athletes in achieving their academic, personal, and professional goals. She was also the assistant advisor for Women’s Basketball, Women’s Track & Field, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, and Softball.

Additionally, Collins worked with the Assistant Director of Academic Support to coordinate and manage all aspects of the Tutorial Program. She also assisted in the planning and implementation of various Life Skills events and efforts, specifically Step UP! Bystander Intervention Training and Career Development. Furthermore, Collins worked with various community partners to coordinate community service for student-athletes. While at UMKC, she earned her Master’s degree in High Education with an emphasis in Sports Administration.

Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Collins attended the University of Arizona and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Sciences with a major in Physiology. While at Arizona, Collins was a member of the Women’s Track & Field Team. As a high jumper, she earned various academic honors including MPSF All-Academic and Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2013, 2014, and 2015. She was also a USTFCCA Academic All-American in 2013. Additionally, she was a member of SAAC, serving as Chair of the Academic Subcommittee.
