For the week of May 23 - May 29, 2016

Went 6-for-14 in four games last week with four RBIs and two runs scored. Had three doubles and one triple on the week. In Saturday's win over Long Beach State, he went 2-for-4 and had a hand in both Fullerton runs in a 2-1 win over the Dirtbags. He doubled to lead off the game and came around to score and drove in what would be the game winning run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. 

 

taukeiaho mug MISSY TAUKEIAHO - TRACK & FIELD
For the week of May 16 - May 22, 2016

MIssy Taukeiaho hit .400 (4-for-10) at the NCAA Los Angeles Regional with a .700 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage. The senior third baseman belted her team-leading 10th home run of the year and drew five walks - two of which were intentional - over the weekend. Additionally, Taukeiaho scored three runs and drove in four to help the Titans defeat nationally-ranked Fresno State twice, before being eliminated by No. 12 national seed UCLA.

ELI PENICK - TRACK & FIELD
For the week of May 9 - May 15, 2016

Penick helped lead the Titans to two Big West Championship titles and took home the crown in the 100 meter dash, shattering the school record and running the fastest time in the meet since 2003 with his time of 10.33. He also ran a leg for the winning 4x100m relay team which won its first ever conference title. The squad not only set a new school record, but also set a new Big West Conference Championship meet record.

For the week of May 2 - May 8, 2016

Dalton Blaser was 8-for-10 in the series vs. UC Riverside and finished the week 9-for-14, scoring five runs, with two doubles and five RBI. Hit bleted two home runs in May 8's 9-2 win over UC Riverside, the first multi-home run game of his career.

RUBEN CARDENAS - BASEBALL
For the week of Apr. 25 - May 1, 2016

In four games against UC Irvine and UCLA, Ruben Cardenas went 8-for-16 (.500) with six extra base hits and eight RBI. He drove in a career high four runs in the Apr. 26 victory over the Bruins and then went 6-for-11 with three doubles, two triples and four RBI in the seriese with the Anteaters. He also recorded an outfield assist on Apr. 30, throwing a runner out at the plate to preserve a 3-run Titan lead.

SYDNEY GOLDEN - SOFTBALL
For the week of Apr. 18 - Apr. 24, 2016

Golden went 2-0 in Big West action at Hawai'i, recording a complete game shutout and a weekend ERA of 0.54. She allowed just one run on 10 hits over 13.0 innings of work while fanning five. Golden now has 16 winsand lowered her ERA to a team-best 1.63.

TANNER PINKSTON - BASEBALL
For the week of Apr. 11 - Apr. 17, 2016

Pinkston tallied three straight three-hit games in a series sweep over UC Davis last weekend. He hit .643 (9-for-14) with four runs scored, one double, a home run and five RBI to lead the Titans.

For the week of Apr. 4 - Apr. 10, 2016

Alexis Valenzuela finished the week a combined 3-0 with two singles victories at the top of the order as well as a 6-1 No. 1 doubles win over 15th-ranked Paulina Dubavets and Stefani Stojic of UC Santa Barbara. Valenzuela’s singles win on Saturday helped the Titans to their sixth Big West victory, the most in program history. Her 16 singles wins at the No. 1 position are the most for any Titan singles player on record (dating back to 2001) and her 13 doubles victories with Camille De Leon are he most for a Titan No. 1 doubles team since Adriana Hockicko and Eleanor Luzano finished the 2001 season with a record of 13-9.

MISSY TAUKEIAHO - SOFTBALL
For the week of Mar. 28 - Apr. 3, 2016

Missy Taukeiaho hit two home runs – including a grand slam – and finished the week batting .455 with a 1.182 slugging percentage, seven RBI and six runs scored. Her solid offensive week helped the Titans to a Big West Conference sweep of the UC Riverside Highlanders.

DESIREE YBARRA - SOFTBALL
For the week of Mar. 21 - 27, 2016

Desiree Ybarra struck out a career-high 11 batters in a complete-game shutout of No. 23/25 Fresno State. She was solid in the circle, retiring the first six batters she faced including striking out the side in the second inning. Ybarra is currently riding a 15.1 inning scoreless inning streak and has not allowed an earned run in her last 36.0 innings dating back to March 6.

ARIANA WILLIAMS - SOFTBALL
For the week of Mar. 14 - 20, 2016

In her first collegiate start, freshman Ariana Williams went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Titans to an 8-0 victory over Yale. Later last week she went 5-for-7 at the plate with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs at the Easton Tournament. In the Titans' game against Arkansas, she drove in the game-winning run after a pair of RBI-doubles earlier in the game. She finished the week batting .600 (6-for-10) with two doubles, a triple, four runs scored, five RBIs and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

TANNER PINKSTON - BASEBALL
For the week of Mar. 7 - 13, 2016

Tanner Pinkston batted .417 (5-for-12) with an .833 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage to help sweep visiting Wichita State. Pinkston belted a three-run home run in Friday's 9-1 victory, the second homer of his career. He had two doubles, a homer and drove in six RBIs while scoring six runs against the Shockers. Overall, Pinkston batted .313 in five games during the week with a .625 slugging percentage and .500 on-base pct.

THADDEUS SMITH - TRACK AND FIELD
For the week of Feb. 29 - Mar. 6, 2016

Freshman Thaddeus Smith debuted as a Titan in a big way, taking first place in the 100m and 200m dash while also running a leg with the winning 4x100m relay team in the Titans' opening meet of the season at RCC. Smith ran a 100m dash time of 10.53 while boasting a time of 21.11 in the 200m dash, which would have been the new school record if it had not been a wind-aided time.

CONNOR SEABOLD - BASEBALL
For the week of Feb. 22 - 28, 2016

Righthander Connor Seabold entered the Mar. 27 14-inning game against Indiana in the fifth inning and was superb. Seabold went a perfect 4.1 innings, retiring all 13 batters he faced while striking out seven to hold the Hoosiers though regulation. The Titans ended up winning, 3-2. In two relief appearances this season, Seabold has faced 20 batters and allowed just one hit while fanning 11.

ALEXIS GONZALEZ - SOFTBALL
For the week of Feb. 15 - 21, 2016

Junior Alexis Gonzalez led the Titans to a 4-1 record at the Santa Clara Bronco Classic Feb. 19-21. She hit .538 (7-for-13) and slugged at a 1.077 clip. She belted two home runs – one in each of the final two games of the tourney – and accounted for 8 runs (6 RBI and 2 runs scored). On Feb. 20, she had a walk-off, game-winning RBI that lifted the Titans to victory over Seattle.

For the week of Feb. 8 - 14, 2016

In her collegiate debut and the Titans' season opener, Sydney Golden tossed 3.0 innings, allowing just one run en route to her first collegiate victory over UTSA on Feb. 12. The Riverside, Calif., native came back the following day and hurled a complete-game shutout surrendering just one hit over 5.0 innings, while striking out four. She collected her third victory in as many days with a 9-7 win over Weber State (5.0 IP, 3 R, 4 K). In her first weekend as a Titan, Golden went 3-0 with a 2.15 ERA with a complete game, a shutout and eight strikeouts.

For the week of Feb. 1 - 7, 2016

The Titans are off to their best start since 1995 with a 4-1 record, and sophomore Danielle Pham is a big reason why. She helped the Titans to a crucial 4-3 victory at Loyola Marymount on Feb. 6. In doubles action, Pham and Sarah Nuno scored a 6-3 victory to help the Titans win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead. With the match tied at 3-3, Pham produced a three-set, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, victory over to clinch the winning point and seal the victory for the Titans. On Feb. 3, in a 6-1 win over Azusa Pacific, Pham and Nuno’s 6-2 win also propelled the Titans to the doubles point and 6-1 team triumph.

SIERRA UNGERMAN - WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
For the week of Jan. 24 - 31, 2016

Sierra Ungerman made her indoor debut this past weekend at the UW Invitational and set two new school records… Ungerman set a new indoor one-mile run record with her time of 5:05.24, breaking the previously set record of 5:06.25… she was also a part of the distance medley relay team that also broke the school record, coming in with a time of 12:16.73

DAVID RODRIGUEZ ELIAS - MEN'S SOCCER
For the week of Oct. 12 - Oct. 18, 2015

Goalkeeper David Rodriguez Elias posted two consecutive shutouts this weekend, tying the Titans' single-season shutout record at nine with Mike Ammann who also logged nine in 1993. The junior from Huntington Beach recorded six saves on the weekend en route to a 1-0 win over CSUN and a 3-0 victory over rival UC Irvine. Elias has allowed only 2 goals in Big West play thus far and has lowered his season goals against average to 0.78. All seven of the Titan wins at home have been shutouts, while Elias has only allowed three goals total in Titan Stadium.

REBECCA WILSON - WOMEN'S SOCCER
For the week of Oct. 5 - Oct. 11, 2015

Rebecca Wilson played a role in all five Titan goals scored as Cal State Fullerton recorded shutout victories over UC Davis, 1-0, on Oct. 9 and Hawai’i, 4-0, on Oct. 11. Against the Aggies Wilson produced the game's lone goal in the 64th minute, splitting two defenders, befor placing her shot in the back of the net. On Sunday, she became the first Titan since 2012 to record a hat trick (three goals in a game) while also adding an assist. Wilson's seven game-winning goals from this season have set a new Fullerton single-season record.



ZACH BRYAN - MEN'S SOCCER
For the week of Sept. 28 - Oct. 4, 2015

Zach Bryan was the anchor of the Titan defense that allowed just 13 shots in two games last weekend, including the Oct. 1 match when the defense held Sac State to only three shots, none of them being on goal. The junior defender also scored his first goal of the season, the game-winner against the Hornets in the 19th minute. Since he eneterd the starting line-up on Sept. 20, Bryan has been instrumental to the Titan defense which has allowed just 29 shots in the last five games and has posted four shutouts. For his effort last week, he was also named the Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week. 

 

MARTINA EDBERG - WOMEN'S GOLF
For the week of Sept. 21 - Sept. 27, 2015

Junior Martina Edberg won her fourth career event on Sept. 27 after recording a 54-hole career-best 211 (5-under) at the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate hosted by Wyoming at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif. She posted rounds of 68 and 67 to close out the tournament and finished six strokes ahead of the runner up. Edberg also set a new Fullerton single-round record on Sept. 21 at Washington State's Cougar Cup in Pullman, Wash., posting a 7-under 65 in the second round at the Palouse Golf Course. She finished that tournament in a tie for second place. 

 

MARTINA EDBERG - WOMEN'S GOLF
For the week of Sept. 14 - Sept. 20, 2015

Junior Martina Edberg set a new Fullerton record when she recorded a 5-under 68 in the second round of the Dick McGuire Invitational on Sept. 14. Her single-round score of 68 set a new school record, eclipsing the 69 that was recorded on five occasions, including twice by Edberg. Also, with the U.N.M. Championship Course playing at a par-73, her 5-under score was also a new single-round scoring record.

 

 

DIEGO SANCHEZ - MEN'S SOCCER
For the week of Sept. 7 - Sept. 13, 2015

Sophomore Diego Sanchez led the Titans offense by scoring two goals in Cal State Fullerton’s 3-0 win over San Francisco Sunday afternoon (Sept. 13). The midfielder led the Titans by taking six shots, four of them on goal while scoring the first and last goals of the game. Sanchez leads the Titans with three goals and six points on the year.

REBECCA WILSON - WOMEN'S SOCCER
For the week of Aug. 31 - Sept. 6, 2015

Rebecca Wilson's point streak was extended to six-straight games while her goal-scoring streak improved to five games. The forward helped the Titans to two wins last week, leading them to an unprecedented 6-0 start. In the Sept. 4, 4-3 double overtime win over FGCU, She scored th team's second gal of the night in the 21st minute and then provided an an assist in the 33rd. She also drew the foul that enabled the penalty kick that won it in the second overtime. Her goal in the 81st minute of the Sept. 6, 1-0 shutout of UNLV, was the gamewinner. Wilson's eight career game-winning goals rank third all-time.

REBECCA WILSON - WOMEN'S SOCCER
For the week of Aug. 24 - Aug. 30, 2015

Senior Rebecca Wilson score three goals in a pair of road victories to increase her Big West lead in goals (5) and points (12) two weeks into the season. The forward scored on her only shot of the match, a penalty kick attempt, in a 4-2 triumph at Idaho State on Sept. 28. In Sept. 30's 3-1 victory at Utah, she provided the game-winning goal and an insurance point to help the Titans to a 4-0 start for the first time since 2008.
