FULLERTON, Calif.  – The CSUN women's volleyball team held on for a four-set (25-18, 25-10, 21-25, 25-16) victory over Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday night at Titan Gym in Big West Conference action.

The Matadors (9-16, 5-8 BWC) were led by Julie Haake and Aeryn Owens as each totaled a match-high 14 kills. Lauren Conati led the Matadors' offense with 43 assists plus a match-high seven block assists, while Katie Sato added 18 digs. CSUN totaled 11 team blocks on the night.

Cal State Fullerton (6-20, 1-11) has now lost 11 consecutive matches since winning its Big West opener back on September 24.

The Titans were led by Madeline Schneider's double-double of 12 kills and 13 digs, both team highs. Senior Precious Manu led the offense with 31 assists as the Titans were held to a .057 attacking percentage. Krya Smith and Aniya Henry added four blocks apiece.

The first set was initially close with six tie scores and three lead changes. With the score even at 17-17, CSUN ended the go-ahead set on an 8-1 run as the final four points scored by the Matadors were two Titan errors sandwiched by two CSUN service aces.

In the second set, CSUN led from start to finish.

The third set was a different story as Cal State Fullerton held off the sweep with a 25-21 victory, ending a 12-set losing streak that dated back to Oct. 22.

Fullerton led 19-12 and held on despite CSUN closing within 22-20. Kills from Schnieder, Fayad and Henry scored the Titans' final set-clinching points.

In the fourth set, CSUN took a 6-1 lead and never looked back even with Cal State Fullerton pulling within 16-14 after a service ace from Fayad.

The Titans conclude the week with matches at UC Santa Barbara (Friday) and Cal Poly (Saturday).

Notes: Cal State Fullerton has lost 11 consecutive matches…prior to the match senior Precious Manu and senior team manger Shannon Bell were honored...Fullerton's 12-set losing streak was ended with a 25-21 win in the third game.
