Titans Struggle Continues on the Road

RIVERSIDE, Calif.  – The Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball team was swept for the third consecutive match as the Titans suffered a 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-18) loss at UC Riverside on Friday night at SRC Arena in Big West Conference action.

With the loss, Cal State Fullerton (6-19, 1-10 BWC) has now lost 10 straight matches and drops to ninth in the league standings. The Highlanders improve to 7-16 overall and 2-19 in the Big West as the teams split their season series this year.

Fullerton failed to find a rhythm offensively hitting just .020 (21-19-100) as a team, as Summer Kerins was the roster's leader with six kills to go along with four block assists. Rachel Hall delivered 19 assists, while Shimen Fayad and Madisen Babich totaled 10 digs apiece.

Mickayla Sherman led UC Riverside with a double-double of 12 kills and 12 digs, while Brooke Callahan added a match-best 13 kills. Chelsea Doyle piloted the UCR offense to a .246 attacking percentage with 33 assists.

Meg Graham led UCR with six block assists as the Highlanders totaled 10.5 stuffs as a team.

In the third set, CSF held a 10-6 lead until UCR unleashed a 10-0 run to take a 16-10 advantage in the match-clinching set.

The Titans return to action at Titan Gym on Tuesday hosting CSUN in a 7 p.m. start.

Notes: Fullerton has been swept by UCR just three times in the all-time history of the series…the Titans have lost 10 matches in a row as well as 10 straight sets.
