CAL POLY || UC SANTA BARBARA
Cal State Fullerton will close its three-game homestand hosting Cal Poly (7 p.m., Friday) and UC Santa Barbara (7 p.m., Saturday) at Titan Gym this weekend.

QUICK RECAP
Madeline Schneider's 18-kill performance was not enough as Cal State Fullerton suffered a 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25, 17, 30-28) loss to UC Davis in Big West Conference action on Saturday (Oct. 8) at Titan Gym. The Titans have lost three in a row.

The Titan Kids Club presented by Kaiser Permanente is an exclusive membership club for children in 8th grade and younger. TICKETS
Tickets for all Titans home games can be purchased online at FullertonTitans.com, or at the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Ticket Office, located in the Titan House on campus off of Gymnasium Drive on the northeast side of Titan Gym. Game day sales and will call tickets will open one hour prior to the scheduled time at the specific venue. All Cal State Fullerton students with a school ID get free admission.

• After sweeping UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara last weekend, the Mustangs advance to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play while holding the third place spot in the Big West Conference, right behind Long Beach State and Hawai'i.
• Cal Poly is currently leading the Big West Conference in assists with 811 and in kills with 851.
• Junior Taylor Nelson leads the conference in assists with 696, giving her 11.41 assists per set. Nelson has also tallied 147 digs and 31 total blocks.
• Freshman Jessica McRoskey is leading the Big West in conference matches in service aces with nine, giving her a .5 average per set

UC SANTA BARBARA NOTES
• UC Santa Barbara (11-7, 2-3) enters the weekend tied for fourth in the Big West Conference standings.
• UCSB ranks second in the league averaging 2.64 blocks per set.
• The Gauchos lead the Big West averaging 1.54 service aces per set as Lexi Rottman's 23 aces on the year rank third in the conference.
• Lindsey Ruddins' 4.12 kills per set rank second in the Big West.
• Emilia Petrachi's 4.54 digs per set lead the league.

ABOUT THE TITANS
• Cal State Fullerton (6-12, 1-3 BWC), who was winless in 2015, has already secured six victories this season.
• The Titans ended a 19-match Big West Conference losing streak with a 3-1 victory over UC Riverside on Sept. 24.
• Fullerton is on a three-match losing streak, winning just one set in its last three contests.
Summer Kerins ' .323 hitting percentage leads Cal State Fullerton and ranks sixth in the Big West. 
Shimen Fayad's 3.42 kills per set rank seventh in the conference, and her 0.28 service aces per set also rate seventh in the league.
• Fayad leads the Titans with 10 double-doubles.

2016 SEASON HONORS
Career highs in kills and digs from Shimen Fayad helped the Titan volleyball team win its first conference opener in five years and earned her Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors on Sept. 26.The 6-foot outside hitter tallied 27 kills and 22 digs to spearhead Fullerton to a four-set victory over UC Riverside on Sept. 24. It was Fayad's team-leading ninth double-double of the year.The win over the Highlanders snapped a 19-match Big West Conference losing streak that dated back to Nov. 15, 2014.Fayad, who hit a torrid .390 for the match with just four errors in 59 attempts, became even more productive as the match wore on. She was responsible for 10 of Fullerton's 13 kills, including match point, in the fourth and final set.  She hit .769 in that set.

GAME NOTES
• The Titans' 19-match Big West Conference losing streak was snapped in the 3-1 win over UCR on Sept. 24 which dated back to Nov. 15, 2014, when they captured a 3-0 victory over the Highlanders.
Shimen Fayad's 27 kills against UCR were the most for any Titan in 2016
• Dating back to 1980, Cal State Fullerton is 5-32 in conference opening matches...playing at home in conference openers, the Titans are 4-14…Cal State Fullerton won its first Big West Conference opener since a 3-0 sweep of Cal Poly at Titan Gym on Sept. 23, 2011

ACES WILD
Shimen Fayad had quite a day at the line in the opening weekend as she served up six aces in one match to help Cal State Fullerton defeat Mississippi Valley State. With her half-dozen service aces, Fayad made her way into the Titans' single-match record book as she tied for fourth most aces in a single match. She now leads the team with 16 aces on the year to average 0.32 per set. 

UP NEXT
Following its homestand, Fullerton will hit the road at UC Irvine on Thursday followed by a match at UC Davis on Saturday.
