FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton won its fourth consecutive match with a 4-0 victory over No. 21 Azusa Pacific at Titan Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
The Titans (15-1) will now head north for a pair of crucial Big West Conference matches at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday and Cal Poly on Sunday.
Fullerton is also closing in on last year's program record 17 victories as the Titans have five matches remaining in the regular season.
APU (11-6) entered the match ranked No. 21 in the Oracle/ITA Division II Women's National Team Rankings.
For the 15th time this season, Cal State Fullerton captured the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead.
Sophomores Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin won their 11th straight doubles match defeating Valeriia Kashina and Jackie Resler, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles.
Seniors Alexis Valenzuela and Camille De Leon clinched the doubles point with their ninth straight win, defeating Natalie Johnson and Lisa Schneider, 6-4, at the top of the order.
The Titans took a 2-0 lead when Portalatin picked up her 12th singles victory of the year with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Kashina at No. 3 singles.
At No. 5 in the order, Masako Makiba dispatched Resler, 6-3, 6-2, before Nuno clinched the match with 6-1, 7-6 (5-0) victory against Kara Hinton at No. 4 singles.
Fullerton returns to action traveling to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday and Cal Poly on Sunday.
Notes: Cal State Fullerton has its best record after 16 matches in program history…Fullerton has yet to lose the doubles point in 2017.
