FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 6-1 victory over Pacific on Saturday afternoon at Titan Tennis Courts.
With the victory, the Titans improve to 12-1 on the year.
For the 12th time this season, Cal State Fullerton started the match by winning the doubles point, as each of the Titan teams was victorious.
Camille De Leon and Alexis Valenzuela (9-1) won their sixth-straight doubles match with a 6-0 victory over Saenz deBuruaga Ruiz and Maayan Sela at the top of the lineup.
At No. 2 doubles, Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin won their eighth-straight and improved to 11-1 by defeating Anneroos Nederstigt and Sabrina Rodriguez, 6-1.
Masako Makiba and Danielle Pham scored their seventh win of the season, 6-2, over Yuki Asami and Anna Ramos Vinolas at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Valenzuela fought back from a first set loss as she edged Sela, 3-6, 6-2, 10-7, at the top of the order to improve to 10-1 this season.
At No. 2 singles, De Leon needed three sets to knock off Nederstigt, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 10-7. The senior is now 8-2 on the year.
Portalatin (10-2) won her third straight with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over deBuruaga Ruiz at No. 3 in the lineup.
At No. 5 in the order, Makiba dispatched Rodriguez, 6-3, 6-1, to improve to 7-5 on the season.
Pham defeated Asami, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 6 in the lineup as the junior is now 10-3 in 2017.
Cal State Fullerton returns to action at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, hosting No. 49 Nebraska at Titan Tennis Courts before traveling to San Jose State for a match on Friday.
Notes: Cal State Fullerton has its best record after 13 matches in program history…Pacific leads the all-time series 12-3 since 2000, but the Titans have won the last two matches.
