FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton's season-opening win streak was extended to 11 matches as the Titans defeated visiting Seton Hall, 6-1, on Sunday morning at Titan Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Titans remain unbeaten at 11-0, while the Pirates fall to 4-4.
Fullerton once again started the match by winning the doubles point as the No. 1 team of Camille De Leon and Alexis Valenzuela defeated Anna Fajorova and Luize Strike, 6-0. The senior duo is now 8-1 on the season.
At No. 2 doubles, sophomores Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin helped the Titans clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Katie Kim and Thandy Kangwa, extending their win streak to six consecutive matches.
The Titans went on to win five of their six singles matches.
At the top of the order, Valenzuela edged Strike, 7-5, 6-1, as the senior improved to 9-0 this season.
De Leon defeated Fajorova, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 in the order to improve to 7-1, while Portalatin scored a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Melody Taal at No. 3 in the lineup. Portalatin is 8-2 on the season.
At No. 4 in the order, Nuno defeated Kangwa, 6-2, 6-3, extending her singles win streak to nine straight matches.
Notes: With the win, Cal State Fullerton extended its winning streak to 11 matches, a program record…Sunday was the first match between Seton Hall and Cal State Fullerton in the all-time series…the Titans have not lost the doubles point this season.
