FULLERTON, Calif. --- On a program-record nine-match win streak, Cal State Fullerton will travel to UC Irvine on Thursday before hosting Seton Hall at Titan Tennis Courts on Sunday.

The Titans have opened the season with nine consecutive wins, a program best. Fullerton will be playing its second Big West Conference match of the year when it travels to UC Irvine (1-7), while the match will serve as the league opener for the Anteaters.

Seton Hall (4-3) will be traveling to Southern California to play the Titans and Utah State in Los Angeles this week.

NEWS & NOTES
Last week, Cal State Fullerton set a new program record, extending its win streak to nine matches after a 6-1 victory over Eastern Michigan on Friday. In addition, the Titans also defeated Loyola Marymount, 4-1, on Wednesday.


Senior Alexis Valenzuela remains unbeaten at 7-0 in singles play, and is now 47-14 in her dual match singles career.


Fellow senior Camille De Leon is also undefeated in singles action at 6-0, and boasts a career singles mark of 48-25 at Fullerton.


As a group, the Titans singles record is 38-8 (.826) in 2017, and Fullerton's doubles record is 18-4 (.818).

Fullerton has yet to lose the doubles point this season.

In addition, sophomore Sarah Nuno enters the week on a seven-match win streak, while junior Danielle Pham has won five in a row and sophomore Karla Portalatin is the winner of four in a row.

 

OPPONENTS
Dating back to 1998, UC Irvine leads the all-time series with Cal State Fullerton, 20-1. Last year, the Titans finally snapped the streak with a 6-1 victory in Fullerton.

 

The Anteaters are 1-7 and have played three mutual opponents of Cal State Fullerton this season with losses to San Diego State, San Francisco, and Loyola Marymount.

 

Seton Hall enters the week at 4-3. This will be the first meeting between the Titans and Pirates.

AWARD SEASON
Cal State Fullerton sophomore Sarah Nuno went a combined 3-0 in singles and doubles play to earn the Big West Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week award, it was announced by the league on Feb. 8.
Nuno overcame a first set loss to Joselyn Treyes Albar, but rebounded to win the match against her Dons counterpart, prevailing 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-3.
Against Santa Clara, she blanked Zeina El Tawil, 6-0, 6-0.  She helped the Titans capture the doubles point with Portalatin, as the duo took care of El Tawil and Nabila Farah, 6-2. 
The athlete of the week award was the first for Nuno during her Titan career.


Senior Alexis Valenzuela was voted the Big West Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league on Feb. 1.
She posted three singles victories as the Titans swept UC San Diego, the No. 13-ranked team in Division II, as well as San Diego State (4-0) and San Diego (4-3) on the road.
She has been named the Big West Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week four times during her career.
