FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton is off to its best start in program history, as no other Titan team before has opened the season with four consecutive victories.

Seniors Camille De Leon (3-0) and Alexis Valenzuela (4-0) remain undefeated in singles play, while the pair is also unbeaten in doubles action (3-0).

After four matches, the Titans are a remarkable 9-2 (.818) in doubles play, and have not lost the doubles point yet this season.

In singles play, the team boasts a 16-5 (.762) record.

NEWS & NOTES
Last week, Fullerton swept UC San Diego 7-0, before heading out on the road to score a 4-0 victory at San Diego State and a 4-3 win at San Diego. The win against the Aztecs was the second straight in the all-time series for the Titans, after CSF had lost the first 29 matches between the two programs. Fullerton's victory at USD was its first in 11 tries against the Toreros, dating back to 2006.

Senior Alexis Valenzuela is now 44-14 in her dual match singles career.

Fellow senior Camille De Leon boasts a career singles mark of 45-25 at Fullerton.

OPPONENTS
San Francisco enters the week 0-2 with losses to Sacramento State (7-0) and fellow Big West Conference member UC Davis (5-2). The Dons lead the all-time series against CSF, 3-0, dating back to 2002.

Santa Clara opened its season with a 5-2 victory over Sonoma State, and will host San Jose State on Friday before the Titans visit. Dating back to 2000, the Broncos lead the all-time series, 6-0.

Cal State Fullerton is 1-0 against the West Coast Conference this season.

AWARD SEASON
Senior Alexis Valenzuela was voted the Big West Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league on Wednesday.

She posted three singles victories last week as the Titans swept UC San Diego, the No. 13-ranked team in Division II, as well as San Diego State (4-0) and San Diego (4-3) on the road.
Valenzuela's 6-2, 7-5 victory over Gemma Garcia enabled the Titans to beat the Toreros for the first time in 11 matches.  She also paired with Camille DeLeon to win a pair of No. 1 doubles matches against UCSD and USD, both by 6-4 scores.

Valenzuela's 6-2, 6-4 victory at the top of the order over Jana Buth also clinched the 4-0 victory for Fullerton over San Diego State.

Wednesday's honor marks the fourth time in her career she has been named athlete of the week.

The honor is also the first of the 2017 season for Cal State Fullerton.
