Titans Defeat Colorado State at Titan Courts

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team earned a dominant 6-1 win over visiting Colorado State University on Wednesday afternoon at Titan Courts after coming out on top in seven of the nine total matches on the day.

The Titans road to victory started off with two quick wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matchups as Danielle Pham and Alexis Valenzuela defeated Madison Porter and Laia Hernandez, 6-1, and Emilia Borkowski and Kalika Slevcove topped Celine Voss and Maddie Buxton, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point and early advantage for the Titans.

After taking the all-important doubles point into the singles matches, the Titans continued their dominance over the Rams, taking the first four decisions.  Valenzuela, in the No. 1 singles spot for Fullerton, was the clinching point for the Titans on Wednesday, earning a 6-2, 6-4 win over Natalie Heffron to give the Titans 4-0 lead and seal a victory.  Borkowski was victorious over Madison Porter (6-1, 6-0), Pham won the next matchup 6-1, 6-0 over Buxton, Camille De Leon then took down Adriana Wojakowska 6-2, 6-4 and Slevcove ended the day with a close win over Voss (6-2, 7-6(5)).

The Titans improve to 8-9 on the season as Colorado State drops to 4-7 on the season and drops their first decision to start their California road trip.  Fullerton continue to play well this season at home as its record improves to 8-3 overall at Titan Courts in 2014-15.

Fullerton is back in action on Thursday at Titan Courts as they take on another out-of-state opponent in Wyoming starting at 1:30 p.m.
