Valenzuela Advances to Round of 16

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. – Sophomore Alexis Valenzuela earned a pair of victories at the Jack Kramer Invitational on Thursday, moving into the round of 16 for Friday at the Jack Kramer Tennis Club.


The native of West Covina, Calif., will now play Texas A&M's Maria Ines Deheza, the tournament's No. 6 seed, tomorrow.

With the win, Valenzuela's singles fall record improved to 4-3.


In the opening round, Valenzuela defeated North Carolina State's Natalia Janowicz, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, before recording another three-set victory, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, over LSU's Madara Straume in the round of 32. 


Camille De Leon, Danielle Pham and Megan Sandford suffered losses and will move into the consolation bracket for Friday.
