DAVIS, CA - Cal State Fullerton junior Jessica Doucette struck out eight and added a bases-clearing double during a four-run second inning to help lift the visiting Titans to a 6-2 win and a series sweep of host UC Davis on Sunday afternoon at La Rue Field in Davis, Calif.

The win lifted the Titans to 30-18 overall on the season as Fullerton reached the 30-win plateau for the third consecutive season and the 26th time in 28 seasons. The Aggies fell to 28-23-1 overall.

Doucette, who didn't allow a hit until a leadoff single by Ashley Johnson in the fifth, evened her record at 5-5 in the circle, allowing two late runs on three hits and walking seven in the complete-game effort.

Lindsay Tognetti (13-9) suffered the loss, allowing five runs on three hits in four innings of work.

Cal State Fullerton did all its damage in the second inning with two outs. A pair of walks sandwiched around a single brought Candice Baker to the plate, who drew a walk on a full-count pitch from Tognetti to plate Ashley Van Boxmeer for the 1-0 lead.

Doucette then followed with the big blow, lacing a double to the gap in left centerfield, clearing the bases for the 4-0 advantage.

The Titans added another run in the fourth when Van Boxmeer scored on a throwing error by the Aggies' third baseman and scored once more in the sixth on Jenna Wheeler's third home run of the season with one out.

UC Davis finally got on the board in its half of the sixth on a two-run home run by Deanna Menapace with one out and threatened to score more in the seventh by loading the bases with two outs.

Johnson led off the inning with the first of three consecutive walks, but Doucette escaped the jam by striking out Mandy Salcido swinging to end the game.

Doucette and Kiki Munoz each finished with a pair of hits for the Titans, who out-hit UC Davis, 8-3, for the game.

Cal State Fullerton returns to action next weekend with a crucial three-game series against Cal Poly at Anderson Family Field. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game will both begin at 12 p.m.
