FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton senior right-hander Marissa Marzan tossed her first career perfect game and the Titans' offense tied a school record for the second straight week with four home runs in a single game as Fullerton completed the three-game sweep of host Pacific thanks to a 10-0, six-inning victory on Sunday afternoon at Simoni Field.

The victory was Fullerton's seventh in its last eight games as the Titans improved to 28-19 overall and 9-3 in the Big West Conference. It was Cal State Fullerton's first Big West series sweep of the season after taking 2-of-3 from three previous conference opponents.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 24-18 overall, 5-4 in league play.

Marzan, who earlier no-hit Loyola-Chicago on March 7 for her first career no-hitter, became the seventh different Titan (and ninth overall) in the history of the program to throw a perfect game and the first since Jodie Cox accomplished the feat against Minnesota on March 3, 2001.

Marzan (10-6) needed only 59 pitches to dispatch the Tigers, finishing with five strikeouts. Only two balls left the infield as the first two Pacific batters flew out to left. For the weekend, she went 3-0, allowing only six hits and one unearned run in 14 2/3 innings of work while striking out seven.

Briana Santos suffered the loss, allowing three runs on two hits in two innings of work as the first of three Pacific hurlers on the day.

The Titans got the scoring started early as sophomore Jenna Wheeler drew a one-out walk and scored one batter later on sophomore Crystal Vieyra's fifth home run of the season to right centerfield to make it 2-0.

Fullerton added two more in the third as sophomore Amanda Kamekona led off with an infield single, stole second with one out, moved to third on a groundout and scored on junior Ashley Van Boxmeer's 11th home run of the year to make it 4-0.

The Titans added two more in the fourth on sacrifice flies by Kamekona and freshman Courtney Martinez and four more runs in the sixth on home runs by junior Candice Baker and sophomore Katie Gollhardt for the final tallies.

Eight different Fullerton players had hits led by Baker's 2-for-3 effort with two runs scored and two RBI.

Cal State Fullerton takes a break from Big West play next week with five games against non-conference foes. The Titans open with a doubleheader against UNLV on April 27 at 4 p.m. before hosting UC Davis for a three-game series beginning on Saturday (April 29) with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
