Titans Add a Pair of Transfers for 2011 Season

Jan. 26, 2011

FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton head women's soccer coach Demian Brown welcomed a pair of mid-year transfers that will compete for the Titans beginning with the 2011 season.

Donya Oliveira, a 5-7 forward from Idaho State of the Big Sky Conference, and Ann Marie Tangorra, a 5-7 forward from Division II Cal State Los Angeles, have enrolled in classes and will be eligible for the upcoming campaign.

Oliveira joins the Titans after only one season with the Bengals, appearing in three matches and taking two shots before illness forced her to miss the Big Sky portion of the season. However, she brings with her a wealth of international experience with various Portuguese National Teams, appearing in the 2010 Algarve Cup with the Women's A National Team at only 17 years old and scoring a goal with the U-19 national squad in a friendly against Wales in August of 2010.

In September of 2010, she joined the U-19 National Team for the country's European Cup qualifiers in Hungary and will attend the U-19 team's camp prior to the European Cup competition in March of 2011.

Originally from Turlock, CA, Oliveira prepped at John H. Pitman HS where she lettered in soccer for two years, earning second-team all-conference honors as a freshman and sophomore. She last played club soccer for the Juventus Destiny, finishing with eight goals and six assists in 2009-10, and attended the Super Y League Regional ODP National Camp in Florida from 2005-08.

Oliveira will have three years of eligibility remaining at Cal State Fullerton.

"Donya's international experience with Portugal is something that we have missed in our program since graduating players like Marlene Sandoval and Karen Bardsley," Brown said. "She will join a young and talented attacking group of players. Her athleticism and goal scoring prowess is a great compliment to the program."

Tangorra was a goal-scoring force for the nationally ranked Eagles in her two seasons, finishing with 14 goals and 10 assists as a sophomore last season en route to second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors and all-region honors from Daktronics (first team) and the NSCAA (second team).

Cal State Los Angeles finished 15-4-1 overall and 13-3 in the CCAA last season, winning the league's South Division and advancing to the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Eagles finished the year ranked No. 19 in the final regular season poll.

As a freshman in 2009, Tangorra was named the CCAA Co-Freshman of the Year and was an All-CCAA Honorable Mention honoree, finishing with 10 goals and 26 points.

Originally from Arcadia, Tangorra prepped at Arcadia HS, earning Pacific League Player of the Year honors as a junior and first-team All-CIF Division II laurels that same season.

She will have two seasons of eligibility at Cal State Fullerton.

"Ann Marie's collegiate career has been tremendous," Brown said. "She has proven herself to be a hardworking, fast, goal scorer. She is going to give us the opportunity to attack opposing teams effectively from both sides of the field and be a consistent threat in front the goal."
