FRESNO, Calif. – Samantha Koemans and Sarah Fajnor made their veteran presence known as they led Cal State Fullerton to a 2-1 victory against Fresno State at Fresno State Soccer Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Titans (2-0) trailed early, as Fresno State's Peyton Cline booted one into the back of the net with the assist from Sarah Jo Ciapponi in the seventh minute.
However, Fullerton came back strong after the half with an equalizer in the 48th minute by Samantha Koemans, her first of the season.
"This is a great win for our program on the road in a very difficult place to play," said head coach Demian Brown. "Being led by a group of seniors is definitely a benefit and today they really showed their importance."
Fajnor added to the momentum by nailing the game winning goal in the 59th minute. Fajnor led Cal State Fullerton in shots with four. Fajnor is on a hot streak coming off Friday night's season opener where she also scored the game winning goal.
Nano Oronoz and Koemans both tied for two shots. Fullerton dominated total shots on goal, 6-2, while also recording a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Titans look forward to capitalizing on the road Friday night in Provo, Utah, as they'll take on BYU at 6 pm PT.
