Fullerton, Calif. – Senior Erica Mazeau scored the golden goal in the second overtime on "Senior Day" at Titan Stadium on Sunday afternoon as Cal State Fullerton shut out UC Davis 1-0.

The goal was scored in the 110th minute following a UC Davis handball in the penalty box. The senior calmly stepped up to take the penalty kick and buried it into the right back corner of the net, to stamp the overtime victory.

With the win, the Titans (8-5-4, 3-2-1 Big West), gained three crucial points, to move into third place in the Big West Conference standings. UC Davis (5-8-3, 2-3-1 Big West) had an opportunity to steal a road victory as Cal State Fullerton played with ten players for most of the match following freshman Jazzmin Mancilla's second yellow card in the 39th minute. However, being down to ten players, Fullerton still held the shot advantage 10-7, over UC Davis.

Just before the penalty kick, UC Davis had a couple great looks at ending the game. In the 105th minute the Aggies sent a cross in front of the Titan goal, and as the ball kept sailing toward the net, Fullerton's senior goalkeeper Lindsey Maricic was able to make a great save by getting a hand on the ball. On the play, Maricic, was injured and did not return.

The Aggies believed they had scored the game winner in the first overtime period. In the 96th minute, UC Davis sent a cross inside the box and a loose ball ensued that was put in the back of the net. The assistant referee, however, held the flag up on the cross, signaling offside.

In the first half, the best scoring opportunity for the Titans came early, as junior Lauren Stupin took a corner and sent the ball into teamate senior Lauren Mellano, who headed it towards the goal but the UC Davis keeper Taylor Jern, made a great save using her body to block the ball on the goal line.

The Titans close out the Big West regular season on the road. First up, Cal State Fullerton plays Long Beach State at 6p.m. on Thursday, and following that contest Fullerton travels to UC Irvine for the final game of regular season on Sunday. Game time will be at 2 p.m.
