PULLMAN, Wash. – Cal State Fullerton improved on its finish from the first two rounds to move up one spot in the third and final round of the Washington State Cougar Cup Tuesday afternoon to claim fifth place shooting a 56-over par 920.
The Titans once again had to deal with subpar weather conditions. In typical Washington fashion, it rained throughout most of the third round with temperatures in the low 40's with even a few minutes of hail around 11:15 in the morning.
Even while battling the elements the Titans outplayed Montana State, who they were paired up with in the third round, to move up one spot to fifth place. Hosts Washington State claimed first place with a 9-over par 873.
Along with the team moving up one spot in the tournament, sophomore Elsa Lundquist also moved up from her tied 10th place result after two rounds to take ninth place in the tournament with a 7-over par 223. Lundquist has now earned top-10 finishes in Fullerton's first two tournaments of the season.
Pauline Welker and Brittany Farrell also improved on the their tied 25th result following the first two rounds. Welker earned 21st place with a 15-over par 231 while Farrell finished one spot behind her with a 16-over par 232. Lou Daniella Uy tied 27th scoring a 19-over par 235 and Felicia Medalla tied 36th at 23-over par 239.
Fullerton returns to the green Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Wyoming in Palm Desert, Calif.
