RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton finished the first round of play at the Big West Women's Golf Championship tied for fourth place (+14, 302) at Oak Quarry Golf Club on Sunday.
Cal Poly currently leads the eight-team contingent after a first-round score of 1-over-par 289, while defending champion and host UC Riverside trails the Mustangs in second place by seven shots (+8, 296). UC Davis (+9, 297) is in third followed by UC Irvine (+14, 302), the Titans, Hawai'i (+15, 303), CSUN (+17, 305) and Long Beach State (+23, 311).
Fullerton senior Martina Edberg is one shot off the pace, tied for second in the standings after firing 1-under-par 71 in the first round. UCR's Jakeishya Lee leads the field after shooting the best round of the day at 2-under-par 70.
Sophomore Pauline Welker is tied for 16th in the standings after firing a 75 (+3) in the first round, while freshman Elsa Lundquist's first-round score of 77 (+5) has her tied for 22nd on the leaderboard.
A first-round score of 7-over-par 79 has junior Daniella Uy tied for 27th on the leaderboard, while junior Brittany Farrell is currently in 35th place with a first-round score of 81 (+9).
The second round begins on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. The Titans will tee off at 8:15 a.m.
