Fullerton Heads North for Sacramento State Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton returns to the links beginning Monday at the Sacramento State Invitational at Sierra View Country Club in Roseville, Calif.

THE TOURNAMENT: The Sacramento State Invitational will span two days and feature 54 holes of stroke play. Rounds one and two will be held on Monday and all players will be re-grouped before the final round on Tuesday, based on scores.

THE COURSE: The par-72 course will play at 6,133 yards from the Old Oak Tees. Jack Fleming, famed golf course architect, was commissioned to design Sierra View's golf course in 1953. Greens are well-bunkered. Water hazards are strategically located. Hole 17 is Sierra View's signature hole, a medium length par three over a majestic lake. The green is guarded by overhanging limbs of ancient valley oaks and a deep, big-faced bunker.
THE FIELD: The 12-team field is comprised of host Sacramento State, Cal State Fullerton, Princeton, Nevada, Northern Arizona, Weber State, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah Valley, Northern Colorado, CSUN and Idaho State.

LIVE STATS: Fans can follow the action live courtesy of GolfStat.com. Results following the conclusion of each day will be available on FullertonTitans.com.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Cal State Fullerton senior Martina Edberg earned her fifth career Big West Conference Female Golfer of the Month award and third of the 2016-17 season, the conference announced on March 2.

She began the month with a second-place finish at the Battle at the Rock hosted by UC Riverside. Edberg posted a 5-over 221 at Oak Quarry Golf Club to finish five strokes back of the medalist. She posted nine birdies at the tournament, the second most amongst the 84-player field.

She would follow that performance with another gem at the stacked Bruin Wave Invitational co-hosted by Pepperdine and UCLA at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. Edberg was one of 18 individuals ranked in the GolfStat.com top-50 and finished better than all but one; Lilia Vu of UCLA. Edberg finished one stroke back of Vu for medalist honors, posting a 1-over 220. She posted eight birdies at that tournament, which tied for third overall. Edberg also led the field in par-4 (3.93, -2) and par-5 (4.73, -4) scoring average.

Overall this season, Edberg has posted a top-3 finish in all seven tournaments Fullerton has played including four medalist finishes. She currently leads the Titans with a 71.29 scoring average in 21 rounds played this season.
