LONG BEACH, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (14-14, 6-9 Big West) topped rival Long Beach, 50-47, on a buzzer beater three from Raina Perez. The Titans trailed by as many as 18 in the first quarter, but battled back to beat the 49ers.

The hero, Perez, finished with a game-high 15 points on 5-8 shooting (3-4 from beyond the arc) to go along with a game-high four assists and team-high three steals. Daeja Smith recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Jade Vega was the only other player in double-figures putting up 10 points in the victory.

Fullerton got off to a very rocky start as Long Beach outscored them 20-4 in the first quarter holding the Titans to just 2-11 (18.2%) shooting and led by as many as 18 points.

A hot second quarter got the Titans some momentum as they fought to get back into the game. Going into the break, it was a 12-point game in favor of the 49ers.

Both teams struggled in the third setting up the possibility for a tremendous fourth quarter comeback. Trailing by 11 at the start of the quarter, the Titans went on to shoot 58.3% from the field and 66.7% from beyond the arc outscoring Long Beach 18-4 in the quarter.

Fullerton started the quarter on an 8-0 run and would claim the lead with 3:20 left to play. After a Long Beach three and a Smith layup, the game was knotted up at 47 with less than a minute to play. Thanks to some solid defense, the 49ers would turn the ball over with 2.4 seconds left to set the scene.

With Carolyn Gill inbounding, Perez caught the inbound on the opposite wing, took one dribble and pulled up from three with a hand in her face sinking the game-winning shot at the Walter Pyramid.
