Titans Earn 1-1 Draw Against FGCU on Wilson's 90th Minute Goal

FORT MYERS, Fla. – For the sixth time in eight games the Titans scored in the final 20 minutes of action, this time in the 90th minute on a goal by DJ Wilson to force overtime and eventually earn a 1-1 draw Wednesday night on the road against Florida Gulf Coast.

The have now gone to extra time in five of their eight matches played this season. With the draw, Fullerton moves to 2-2-4 on the season and remain undefeated on the road.

With time winding down the Titans started a constant attack against FGCU and with just 20 seconds left Wilson struck an unbelievable shot after a header into the box from Edward Salazar in the final third to score a spectacular goal for his second of this season.

Wilson has shown he has the "it" factor late in games, his first goal of the season came in the 88th minute against James Madison to force overtime.

The Titans gave up a goal in the 60th minute to Shak Adams after the Eagles stole the ball above the 18-yard box on a play that could have been called a penalty. But as the Titans have shown all year, they refuse to lose and continued to battle back throughout the match.

Fullerton seemed to have out-played Florida Gulf Coast throughout most of the contest, out-shooting the Eagles 18-8 with six of those shots on goal opposed to just three from FGCU. The Titans also doubled the Eagles in corner kicks, earning eight to their four.

Wilson, Bass Sarr and Rob Coronado lead the Titans with three shots each, however, the team spread the ball around throughout out the match as 10 different players recorded at least one shot. Goalkeeper Paul-Andre Guerin recorded two saves on the night and Florida Gulf Coast keeper, Gustavo Vasconcelos, record five saves.

After the one-game East Coast road trip the Titans now return home to host Saint Francis at Titan Stadium Sunday at 5:30 p.m. PT in a doubleheader with the women's soccer program.
