Men's Soccer Hosts Saint Francis Sunday at Titan Stadium

FULLERTON, Calif. – After another thrilling comeback where DJ Wilson scored in the 90th minute to force overtime and lead the Titans to a 1-1 draw, the team now returns home to host Saint Francis Sunday at 5:30 p.m. PT looking to get their first victory at Titan Stadium. 

At halftime of the match, Cal State Fullerton and the Big West Conference will have a Commissioner Cup Celebration and trophy presentation on Sunday, September 23 at Titan Stadium. The trophy presentation will take place during halftime of the Men's Soccer game against Saint Francis. Student-athletes and athletic coaches will join members of University leadership and the Big West Commissioner, Dennis Farrell, in celebrating the school's first ever Commissioner Cup Championship.  Fans are encouraged to come early and enjoy Youth Club Day as the women's soccer team takes on Denver at 1:00PM and the men's team takes on Saint Francis at 5:30PM.  All youth soccer players will receive FREE admission to both games by wearing their club jersey. Register for Youth Club Day HERE.

The Titans are coming off of a week in which they went 1-1 with a win over San Diego on the road and a loss to Cornell University at Titan Stadium. Fullerton came up with a big win in overtime in the 100th minute against San Diego on a beautiful free kick from Robert Coronado for his first goal of the year. The Titans played well in both matches, out-shooting its opponents combined 29 to 22 but came up just short in the score column against Cornell.

QUICK HITS
• The Titans looks to get back to its winning ways on the road against FGCU where they are is 2-0-2 this year.
• Fullerton has scored after the 70th minute mark in five out of its seven games this season, including three to force overtime.
Samuel Goni leads the team with five points on two goals and one assist. Goni led the team in 2017 with 19 points.
• The Titans have gone to extra time in five of their eight matches and have scored past the 70 minute mark in six of their eight matches.
• Head Coach George Kuntz is in his 5th season at the helm of the Titans. Cal State Fullerton is 45-35-18 under his leadership.
• Fullerton's 44 wins since Kuntz arrived in 2015 is the most among Big West team's over the four year time period.

LATE GAME GOALS
Once again, the Titans scored a late game goal in their 1-0 victory over San Diego. Fullerton has now scored five of its seven goals past the 70th minute of action and four goals past the 80th minute. The Titans have shown so far in this young season that they have a lot of poise late in matches.

ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE RECORD BOOK
Goalkeeper Paul-Andre Guerin recorded two clean sheets last week with wins over UNLV and San Diego. Guerin now has 10 shutouts for his career, needing just one more to move into a tie for 8th all-time in the history of the program. Guerin's 10 shutouts is the most of any active goalkeeper in the Big West Conference.

Senior Captain, Coronado, picked up an assist in Sunday's match against Cornell, giving him 13 for his career. Coronado needs just two more assists to move him into a tie for eight all-time in the history of program.

OPPONENT AND HISTORY

FLORIDA GULF COAST
4 p.m. | Wednesday, Sept. 19 | FGCU Soccer Complex
Fullerton will match up with Florida Gulf Coast for the first time in the history of the program. The Eagles are 3-2 this season with victories over Presbyterian, Georgia Southern and South Florida. Florida Gulf Coast has suffered losses to Charlotte and No. 1 ranked Wake Forest.

SAINT FRANCIS
5:30 p.m. | Sunday, Sept. 23 | Titan Stadium
The Titans will face off against Saint Francis for the first time in the history of the two programs. The Red Flash is 3-3 on the year with wins over Texas Rio Grande Valley, Bucknell and Duquesne. Saint Francis has losses to Houston Baptist, NJIT and West Virginia.
