Waves Challenge Round One Results
SOMIS, Calif. – Through just under two rounds at the Waves Challenge Monday afternoon at the Saticoy Country Club, Fullerton men's golf sits in 13th place at 72-over par 652.
The Titans, along with the rest of the field, dealt with tough weather conditions on top of an already difficult course. Temperatures in Somis reached up to 90 degrees with winds gusting up to 30 mph.
Round two of the tournament was suspended due to darkness and will be completed Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m.
Senior Mark Cobey led the Titans individually with a score of 8-over par 136, leaving him tied for eighth place after day one. Cobey shot a 4-over par 76 in round one and is at 4-over par 60 through 14 holes in round two before play was suspended.
Derek Castillo is second on the Titans at 14-over par 144 through 14 holes of the second round, ranking him tied 30th overall. Castillo shot a 10-over par 82 in round one leaving him tied 43rd. However, Castillo started to turn things around in round two, shooting a 4-over par 62 so far in round two, moving him up 13 spots.
Junior Matt Wilson is tied for 58th after shooting 21-over par 149. Wilson shot a 10-over par 82 in round one and is at 11-over par 67 so far in the second round. Davis Holeman sits in 74th place after shooting a 30-over par 157 while freshman Dalton Daniel sits two spots behind in 76th with a 33-over par 161.
The Titans look to improve on their score Tuesday as they finish the second round of the tournament beginning at 8 a.m. which will immediately be followed by the third and final round.
