IRVINE, Calif. --- Junior Connor Seabold has been named the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week, after tossing 7.0 shutout innings against No. 23 Stanford, leading Cal State Fullerton to a 1-0 opening night victory on Thursday night.
The 6-3 right-hander scattered five hits, walked just one and fanned five as he earned his first victory of the season.
Seabold did not allow a runner to advance past second base in the contest. He wiggled out of jams with runners on first and second in the second and fifth frames. He did all of this against a Stanford squad that returned every starter from last year's team, with the exception of the shortstop position.
For Seabold, this marks the third time he's collected BWC Pitcher of the Week honors in his career. He was also named to Baseball America's Preseason Top-100 Top MLB Prospect list in January.
