SOPHOMORE (2017)
Made 18 appearances including 8 starts… Velasquez made one appearance in the College World Series against Florida State where he pitched 2.2 innings… finished the season with a 4-3 record with a 4.45 ERA… has a 1.79:1 strikeout to walk ratio (34 K, 19 BB)… earned his first win of the year in a 5.1-inning relief effort at UNLV (Feb. 25) where he allowed just 4 hits without a run in the Titans’ 4-1 victory… made his first start in his next appearance on Mar. 4 at Houston where he hurled 7.0 shutout innings (3 hits) in the Titans’ 4-1 win against the Cougars… his season high strikeout performance was four in his season debut against Stanford on Feb. 18.
FRESHMAN (2016)
Appeared in 14 games and made two starts... Was 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA in 19 and 1/3 innings pitched, recording 10 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .167 batting average.
HIGH SCHOOL
A 2015 graduate from South Hills High School, home of the Huskies in West Covina, California...Played on varsity for three under coach Darren Murphy, competing in the Palomares League... Pitched 3 innings and had 4Ks as a sophomore, 10-1 record 0.67 ERA, 83 innings with 75Ks, earned MVP, First Team All-League, First Team All-Valley, 6-3 record 1.14 ERA, 57 innings with 57Ks, earned First Team All-League, All-Academic, All-Valley. Other Honors received, Male Student Athlete of the Year.
