Selected in the 33rd round (988th overall) of the 2014 Major League
Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the San Francisco
Giants.
AS A SENIOR (2014)
Played in 45 games, making 38 starts behind the plate... Batted
.225 with 27 hits, one double, 11 RBI and 21 runs scored... Picked
up his production in conference play, batting .286 and scored eight
runs in 20 Big West Conference games... Threw out 12 would-be base
stealers from behind the plate... Named to the Johnny Bench Award
Watch List... In his final 11 games, batted .333 (11-for-33) with
six runs and a .421 on-base percentage and recorded a five-game
hitting streak... Tied a career-high with three hits in an 11-9
victory at UC Santa Barbara on Apr. 11.
SUMMER 2013
In 31 games for the Rochester Honkers of the Northwoods
League, batted .286 with 15 runs scored, 12 RBIs, two doubles and
one home run.
AS A JUNIOR (2013)
One of four catchers on the roster…appeared in 26 games,
making 12 starts…batted .300 with eight runs scored and
eight RBIs…was walked with the bases loaded vs. Nebraska in
the bottom of the 11th inning, propelling the Titans to
the 8-7 walk-off victory (03/19)…batted 3-for-4 and drove in
two runs in a 10-5 win over Nebraska (02/16)…also hit
3-for-4 and drove in one run during 2-1 victory at Long Beach State
that completed the series sweep (03/24)…batted 2-for-2 and
scored two runs in series-sweeping 9-6 win at Cal State Northridge
(05/25).
SUMMER 2012
Won the Far West League Championship with the Humboldt
Crabs (37-9)…batted .245 with a .410 on-base percentage,
scoring 17 runs and driving in 15.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2012)
Was part of the Titans’ three-man catching rotation
with Casey Watkins and Chad Wallach • Played in 25 games, 16
as a starter (15 at catcher, 1 as designated hitter) • Team
finished 11-4 in his starts behind the plate (25-17 for the others)
• He started all three games behind the plate in the NCAA
Regional at Oregon where he batted 2-for-3 with two sacrifices and
was twice hit by a pitch • Played errorless baseball in 93
chances with only 1 passed ball • Started 11 (10 at catcher, 1
at DH) of the 24 Big West games • For the season batted .302
with six RBIs • Batted .357 vs. right-handed pitchers and .438
with two outs • Shared team lead with three pinch hits (in 5
at bats) • Longest hitting streak of season was a six-gamer
(May 15-June 1, 7-for-14, .500) • Biggest hit was a two-out,
ninth-inning RBI single on Apr. 22 that tied Cal Poly at 4-4 in a
game the Titans won in the 10th inning, 5-4.
AS A FRESHMAN (2011)
Redshirt freshman won regular catching role with
consistent offense and improved defense • Started 42 of the 58
games and appeared in all but seven • Batted 3-for-3 vs.
Washington in the second game on Mar. 19 • Had 11 multiple-hit
games including all three in the UC Riverside series (May 6-8)
• Batted .316 with runners in scoring position.
AS A REDSHIRT (2010)
Was granted a redshirt season. Did not participate in any
games.
HIGH SCHOOL
Lettered three seasons for Head Coach Jeff Carlson and
the Thundering Herd • Was a teammate of current Titan teammate
J.D. Davis in 2008 and 2009 • Participated in the Div. I CIF
Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs all three varsity seasons, and helped
EGHS to the CIF championship in 2007 as a sophomore • Hit a
career-best .438 and drove in 29 runs as a senior in 2009 when he
earned All-Delta Valley League first team honors • Named to
the Sacramento Bee’s All-Metro team in 2009 • Earned
team defensive most valuable player honors as a sophomore and
senior.
