Estelle Naito is serving on the Cal State Fullerton track and field staff for her 12th season (2023-24) as the pole vault coach.
Coach Naito was a former Titan student athlete herself pole vaulting under the guidance of Coach Ron Kamaka. Upon graduating, she obtained her piano teaching certificate at Fullerton College, which led her to earn her master's degree from Biola University.
Since 2009, Naito has coached for the club, Ultimate AC, under the supervision of Tetsuo Hirota, the former Japanese national coach and Coach Brian Yokoyama, the United States men's and women's pole vault national chairperson.
Coach Naito is a part of the National Pole Vault Summit staff, the World Record Camp/International Pole Vault Camp staff, and the LA84 staff. She has also helped coach athletes in Japan including a two-time Japanese national champion.
In 2016, Alysse McMillen set the then-school indoor record in the pole vault mark of 12-2 (3.71m). At the 2017 Big West Championships, Bryn Williamson set two personal records and a school outdoor record to win the women's conference title with a clearance of 13-6.25 (4.12m). In the same championship, Jacob Ruiz scored five points for the men's side which contributed to their first team title in history - the team won by 5 points. In 2018, Shelby Noble set the current indoor school record with a mark of 12-5.5 (3.80m).
