SEATTLE – Cal State Fullerton women's track and field kicked wrapped up the 2019 indoor season on Saturday with the final day of the MPSF Championships at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor. Samantha Huerta (mile) and Trinity Ruelas (3K) both set school records to highlight the final day of competition.

Huerta won heat three and took 11th place overall in the mile with a time of 4:47.50, crushing her own previous record of 4:54.55. Ruelas's time of 9:37.75 was good for 27th place overall and a new school recording, besting Carolyn Ellis' 2008 record of 9:40.63.

"Three records for the distance crew this weekend so I'm really pleased with how that group ran in general," head coach John Elders said. "Alyssa Block had her best race as a Titan, including cross country, she's getting her confidence and mojo back after making the jump from community college. Kelsey Carroll also had a strong 3K as well so it was a very good race for the Titans. Sarah Hollis and Gabrielle De La Rosa ran well also. They all dropped their times which is a good sign going into outdoors."

"I left the meet with a lot of optimism about our future. Mariah Stewart, Hailey Murdica and the other young athletes, they had great experiences and are already very motivated to improve and have an even better showing next year. That aspect of it has me very excited going into outdoors this year and indoors next year."

Iesha Hamm cleared 5-6.5 (1.69m) in the women's high jump to tie for ninth place, just missing scoring a point for the women's squad. Alexis Vincent-Walker and Jelani Minix both cleared 5-4.5 (1.64m).

"Although they didn't clear higher bars, all three of the ladies had strong attempts at the bars they went out on, so there were positives to take away," Elders said.

Onyx Gaston just missed scoring for the Titans as well, taking ninth place in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 37-8 (11.48m). Minix also triple jumped 37-0.5 (11.29m) to take 10th place with a personal-best mark.

Kiana Clay clocked a time of 57.23 and Mia Franco came in at 57.33 in the 400-meter sprint to take 19th and 20th place overall, respectively. Franco, Klay, Karyn Best and Madison Moku ran the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:55.14.

The outdoor season begins for the Titans on March 1 at the Riverside City College Invitational.
