Cal State Fullerton welcomed Derrick Fazendin back to the Titan family as the department's Sports Media Director on Nov. 22, 2016. He also serves as the contact for Fullerton's baseball and volleyball programs.

This marks Fazendin's second stint with the department, as he served as a Sports Media Assistant during the 2012-13 season. He was the primary contact for the women's basketball, men's soccer, men and women's track and field teams and was a secondary contact for the nationally ranked Titan baseball program.

Before coming to Fullerton, Fazendin held the position of Assistant Director of Athletics Communications at the University of Arizona, where he served as the media relations contact for the Wildcats' football and baseball programs. He also previously headed the communications efforts for UA's women's basketball, men's tennis and women's tennis teams. In addition, he was in charge of developing and maintaining Arizona's student internship program within the department's communications office.

Fazendin worked in a similar role at the University Houston, as he served as the media relations contact for UH's women's basketball and women's tennis programs during the 2013-14 campaign, while also leading the department's student internship program.

A native of Mission Viejo, Calif., he's held internships with Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim during the 2012 season and with the University of Arizona, where he worked primarily with the 2012 College World Series Champion baseball program as an undergraduate media relations assistant. He also served as the media relations contact for UA's nationally ranked rugby program.

Before returning to Fullerton, Fazendin acted as the Manager of Social Media and Events for Crimson Marketing and Public Relations, a sports and entertainment agency in Manhattan Beach, Calif.

Fazendin earned his bachelor's degree in journalism with a sports management minor from Arizona in 2012.

Fazendin currently resides in Newport Beach, Calif.
