HEIZABURO OKAWA
M&W Fencing Coach / Inducted Nov. 1, 2019

During his 26-year coaching stint at Cal State Fullerton, Heizaburo Okawa guided the Titans to nine men's and women's conference championships, while also leading the men to a ranking as high as 14th in Division I fencing in 2005. 

Before coaching at Fullerton, he coached the UCLA men's fencing program from 1974-1980. Not only was Okawa a prolific coach, he also goes down as one of the best fencers in United States history, as he was the U.S. national foil champion in 1967 and 1968 and competed in the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympic games. He was elected to the US Fencing Hall of Fame in 2004.
