Zimmerman Extended for Three Years

Dec. 14, 2011

Fullerton, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball Coach Carolyn Zimmerman has signed a 3-year contract extension that will keep her with the Titans at least through December of 2014.

Already the school's winningest coach by both victories and percentage, Zimmerman recently completed her tenth season as head coach. In 2011 the Titans were 13-16 overall and 8-8 for a share of fourth place in the Big West Conference. The program's breakthrough season came in 2010 when the Titans went 26-6, won the conference title at 14-2, cracked the national Top 25 rankings and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance. Those accomplishments earned Zimmerman Big West Coach of the Year honors and national honorable mention.

"Carolyn is being rewarded for the great job she has done in bringing the program to a competitive level in a highly competitive volleyball conference," said Associate Athletics Director Julie Bowse. "And her teams have performed even better in the classroom than on the court."

"My family and I are excited!" said Zimmerman. "My commitment to the university and volleyball program remain constant. I am dedicated to our student athletes and their pursuit of excellence. It is extremely satisfying that the administration has seen our results, hard work and is excited about the direction of the program."

Zimmerman spent seven years as a Titan assistant before taking over the head job, where she has compiled a 147-153 (.490) record. She was the West Coast Conference player of the year and an honorable mention All-American player in 1991 at Pepperdine. She resides in Redondo Beach with her husband Joe and four children.
