Zimmerman Earns National Recognition

Fullerton, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton volleyball Head Coach Carolyn Zimmerman was named a CVU.com national coach of the year honorable mention after guiding the Titans to their first Big West Conference championship and postseason appearance in 2010.

Zimmerman joins Tulsa's Ed Allen, Utah State's Grayson DuBose, Missippi's Joe Getzin as a top five finalist for the national award given this year to Creighton's Kirsten Bernthal Booth.

The ninth-year head coach has turned the Titan volleyball program around since taking it over in 2002. She inherited a program that had won no more that 12 games in the five previous seasons. In 2010, Zimmerman's TItans posted a school record in wins with a 26-6 overall record and won the Big West with a dominant 14-2 league mark.

Twenty of the Titans' 26 wins on the year came by way of 3-0 sweep of their opponents and their nine-game winning streak heading into the first round of the NCAA tournament was also a school record.

Zimmemran the 2010 Big West Coach of the Year has produced two Big West Players of the Year in the last three seasons including 2010's winner Erin Saddler, and saw a school record four 2010 Titans make the league's first team.
