College Park, MD - It was announced today that volleyball assistant coach Mitch Kallick has been hired by the University of Maryland after serving three season's at Cal State Fullerton under Head Coach Carolyn Zimmerman.

Kallick now heads to the Atlantic Coast Conference where the Terps are coming off a 14-19 (6-14) season under third-year Maryland Head Coach Tim Horsmon.

With the Titans, Kallick was instrumental in the development of outside hitters and defensive specialists like Brittany Moore (2008 Big West Player of the Year and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention) and Cami Croteau (Two-time All-Big West First Team honoree) while also spearheading the team's recruiting efforts over the past two seasons.

Kallick's efforts were rewarded by PrepVolleyball.com as it named the Titans' 2008 class an honorable mention in its Top Recruiting Class Rankings. It was the first such mention in the program's history.

In the three years Kallick was an assistant, the Titans compiled a 50-42 overall record, set a school record for wins in Big West Conference play in 2008 with 9 victories, and tied the school record for most victories in a season in 2009 with 18.

Kallick, 27, came to Fullerton after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee, where he helped the 2006 Lady Vols to a 19-12 overall record and an NCAA tournament appearance.

Prior to Tennessee, Kallick spent three seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, New York University, helping to guide the Violets to one Div. III Elite Eight finish (2005), a pair of Final Fours (2003 and 2004) and one national championship match in 2003. For their efforts, the University Athletic Association (UAA) named the NYU coaching staff Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2003 and 2004.
