Northridge, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton volleyball team concluded its 2007 campaign with a 3-0 win over Fairfield to finish 2-0 in the Fremont Investment and Loan Invitational at the Matadome Saturday afternoon.
With the 30-22, 20-23, 30-28 win, the Titans finish with at least .500 winning percentage for just the fifth time in the history of the program and end up with an overall record of 15-15. Fairfield dropped to 21-13 with its third straight defeat.
A trio of Titans posted at least 12 kills paced by junior Brittany Moore with 20 on the afternoon. Jennifer Francisco added 16 and Alex Wolnisty 12, while Francisco hit .519 to lead all players. Moore and Francisco also had 10 digs apiece.
Fullerton hit no less than .273 in each of the three games and scored is game-best .340 attack percentage in game two. The Titans out-hit the Stags .301 to .181 as a team and picked up its sixth win of the year via the sweep.
The Stags' Kelly Oliver posted a double-double scoring a team-high 13 kills and a match-high 23 digs. Oliver also added three blocks, two of which were solos.
Julie Geissert played her 361st career and final game as a Titan posting 42 assists boosting her school record to 3,907 career assists. She also finished ninth on the Titans' all-time career blocking list with 191 total blocks and seventh all-time with 177 block assists. Geissert sits just outside the Titans'Top 10 in digs with 748 career scoops.
Francisco concludes her injury-plagued, four-year Titan career having played 179 career games while collecting 352 total kills and 302 digs.
Freshman Erin Saddler had one of the best blocking efforts in the history of Cal State Fullerton volleyball. Her 114 block assists was the best single-season performance by any Titan and her 129 total blocks was the third-best single-season effort.
The Titans' 7-9 Big West Conference finish ties them for fifth place in league with Cal State Northridge and two games out of fourth place. The seven conference wins is a new school record for total wins in league action.
The Titans 15 overall wins is the fourth-best total in the history of the program.
