Titans Come Back to Beat Aggies, 3-2

Davis, Calif. - Kayla Neto's 21 kills and 20 digs Friday night powered Cal State Fullerton to a come from behind, 3-2 Big West Conference victory over UC Davis at the Pavilion to sweep the season series from the Aggies.

The Titans, winners of three of their last four, fell behind 0-2 (18-25, 17-25) heading into the break, but collected themselves upon returning to the court, to win three straight sets, 25-23, 25-18, 15-12. They improve to 12-14 overall and return to .500 at 7-7 in league play.

The Aggies drop their third consecutive match, and sixth in their last eight contests, to fall to 20-9, 6-8.

Davis led all the way in the first two sets and had the lead at 21-19 in set No. 3 before three kills from Fullerton and two errors from Betsy Sedlak and Allison Whitson kept the Titans' foot in the door. Jennifer Edmond had five of her 10 kills (.409) on the night in the set as Fullerton mounted its comeback.

Bre Moreland's kill at 8-8 in the fourth set put the Titans in the lead for good. They rattled off six points in the next seven exchanges and never looked back.

Neto and Edmond were joined in double-figure kills by Leah Maurer (14) and Moreland (10). Maurer hit .214 on the night and added seven digs and two blocks to the mix. Moreland posted a double-double, logging 10 digs and a solo block in the win.

Andrea Ragan also scored herself a double-double with a 50 assist, 18-dig evening.

Gabrielle Dewberry led all players in digs, scooping up 30 Aggie attacks.

Whitson and Devon Damelio led the way for Davis' offense with 16 kills apiece. Valerie Brian hit .353 for the match with 12 kills without an error in the loss. Sedlak dominated at the net with nine blocks to pace the floor.

The Titans will face Pacific, who lost to Long Beach State on Friday, tomorrow night in Stockton. THe match will begin at 7 p.m.
