Edmond Leads CSF to Sweep of UCR

Fullerton, Calif. - Brittany Moore and Jennifer Edmond combined for 27 kills as Cal State Fullerton swept UC Riverside 3-0 in a Big West Conference volleyball match Saturday night at Titan Gym.

The Titans sweep the season series and extend their winning streak to eight games over the Highlanders over the last four seasons. Fullerton evens their overall season record at 13-13, and up their conference record to 6-5. UC Riverside falls to 8-17, 3-7.

The Titans led the entire way, with the exception of three lead changes in set number three, upending the Highlanders by scores of 25-19, 25-18, and 25-21. Edmond led the floor with 14 kills, a season-high for the freshman. She also added an ace, three digs and a pair of block assists.

Moore, with 13 kills and 10 digs, notched her 12th double-double of the season. Seven kills from Kelly Fink was the best the Highlanders could muster offensively, but the UCR squad did out-block the Titans at the net. Shannon Moyneur had four block assists to lead the way as UCR out-blocked CSF 7.0 to 5.0.

Four Titans collected double figures in digs led by freshman Andrea Ragan who scooped a total of 17, her season best total. She also picked up a double-double, as she also posted 38 assists in the three-set match.

Dominique Cowling had 13 digs to pace the Highlanders.

Cal State Fullerton will meet Long Beach State on Election day (Nov. 4). First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid.
