Long Beach, Calif. - Alexis Crimes' 20 kills and .548 hitting percentage helped lift Long Beach State to a 3-0 Big West Conference win over Cal State Fullerton in a volleyball match held at The Pyramid Tuesday night.

The Titans dropped the match 22-30, 23-30, 26-30 and even their record at 11-11 overall and 5-5 in league action. The 49ers improve to 16-6, 10-2.

Long Beach's .351 hitting percentage overshadowed Fullerton's mark of .176 on the night. Brittany Moore led the Titans' offense with 12 kills, while Erin Saddler's .467 hitting percentage (nine kills) was the best mark for all Titans on the floor.

Long Beach Lead wire to wire in game one and most of game two. The Titans forced 3 tie scores and broke ahead twice but the 49ers prevailed to take a two game to none lead into the break. The Titas put out their best effort in game three taking a lead at 18-17. Fullerton trailed and stayed as close as 27-25, but three Fullerton attack errors in the last four rallies handed Long Beach its 16th win of the year.

Julie Geissert had 36 assists for the Titans, and fell just two assists shy of tying the all-time Cal state Fullerton record for assists. It is likely she will break the record Friday night at Titan Gym.

Crimes led all players with four blocks on the night including two solos as Long Beach went on to lead Fullerton in blocking 7.5 to 6.0. Erin Saddler paced the Titans' net effort with three block assists.

Fullerton will continue its quest for its sixth conference win (to tie a school record) Friday night as they take on UC Santa Barbara at Titan Gym. The first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
