FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton's Volleyball Team hosted its annual alumni match and Bagels & Bubbly Fundraiser on Saturday, August 19th at Titan Gym. Players were accompanied by coaches, friends, family and alumni to help make the fundraiser a success.
Guests enjoyed a delicious brunch from Avalon Bagels along with a bar and desserts. They were also welcomed to begin bidding on silent auction items ranging from autographed memorabilia to gift cards to local restaurants. Once the silent auction closed, the program began with Director of Athletics Jim Donovan sharing a few words about the program as well as Head Coach Nicole Vargas Polster. Polster then introduced the team and then welcomed guest speaker Lauren Goins to the stage. Lauren shared what an impact Fullerton volleyball had on her life. She also encouraged the players to thank their parents often for the sacrifices they have made for them to flourish on and off the court.
After the speakers, the student-athletes rotated around the room stopping at different tables to mix and mingle with the guests. They each had a list of questions for the guests and questions the guests could ask them. One table's favorite question was, "Why did you choose Fullerton?" After this mixer, the live auction, led by Bryan Escalante, kicked off.
The Titans were able to raise $18,100, which is over 100% of their goal. It's not too late to help them reach even further and provide more opportunities for good nutrition, travel costs, gear, and recruiting. Donations can be made here. Still available is a 5-night stay in Waikiki, Hawaii for up to four guests which is perfect to use when the team plays the University of Hawaii on October 6th.
"I'm so thankful for all the support, from those close to the program, those who are new, and those that have supported Titan Volleyball for many years. None of this would be possible without our donors and we hope to make them proud this season!" Head Coach Nicole Polster said.
The volleyball team was delighted with the outcome of their event and can't wait to see what successes the upcoming season will bring for them.
