2023 Women's Volleyball Schedule
FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball head coach Nicole Vargas Polster has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2023 season.
"I'm very excited for this upcoming year and the competition we have lined up," Polster said. "We will be a young team with a competitive spirit. It's going to be fun to see how our team grows and competes together."
The Titans will open the season on August 25 at the Hotel Vance Rose City Showdown in Portland, taking on San Diego State before playing Portland State and Kansas State. The team will then play at the Hornet Invitational September 1-2 in Sacramento, facing Sacramento State, Portland and San Jose State.
Fullerton will host American University for its home-opener on September 8 at 5:00 p.m. The Titans will then host the Big West/WAC Showdown September 15-16, welcoming UC Irvine, California Baptist and Grand Canyon to campus.
The Titans' conference opener will take place on September 22 at home against UC Davis, with first serve slated for 6:00 p.m. Fullerton's first road conference contest is scheduled for September 29 at 2022 Big West runner-up UC Santa Barbara.
The team will play six of its eight matchups in October at Titan Gym, beginning with UC Irvine on October 3. The Titans will then hit the road for the majority of November, playing five of six away from Titan Gym. Fullerton's final regular season home contest will be against defending Big West Champion Hawai'i on November 11. The Titans close the regular season at CSUN on November 18.
The inaugural Big West Women's Volleyball Tournament will then take place November 23-25 at Long Beach State, with the top six teams from the regular season participating.
Third year head coach Polster will oversee a young 2023 roster, featuring just two upperclassmen in team captain Lyla Traylor and junior transfer Ashley Chacon. This season's team will include six returners, including Traylor and 2022 Big West All-Freshman Team member Bianca Martinez. Fullerton welcomes 11 newcomers, made up of eight incoming freshmen and three transfers.
Last season, the Titans notched their most regular season wins since the 2012 campaign, as the team went 13-15 overall.
