FULLERTON, Calif. — The Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to UC Irvine Friday night at Titan Gym.
Lyla Traylor fueled the Titans with a team-high 15 kills on a .233 clip to go along with 15 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. Bianca Martinez and Danielle Jefferies each tallied eight kills for the Titans, with Jefferies notching a team-high five blocks. Liz Schuster dished out a match-high 30 assists while Málie McClure contributed 12 digs.
Fullerton kept things close to start the first set, with kills by Traylor, Martinez and Schuster bringing the Titans within one, 7-6. But the Anteaters later used an 8-0 run to go up 17-7. The Titans responded with a 4-1 run of its own with kills and a block by Jefferies and Traylor, but UC Irvine went on to take the set, 25-12.
The Titans jumped out to an 8-2 lead to start the second period following kills and a block by Martinez and Fonua. Fullerton maintained a five-point cushion later in the set, with a Martinez kill putting the Titans up 11-16. But the Anteaters fought their way back, taking a 20-19 lead before a service error tied things up at 20. A 4-0 run brought UC Irvine to set point before a ball handling error and another Martinez kill brought the Titans within two, 24-22. But UC Irvine scored the following point to win set two, 25-22.

After falling behind 11-6 in the third set, the Titans used a 7-0 run highlighted by Jefferies and Traylor kills to take a 13-11 advantage. Fullerton extended its lead to four, 18-14, following a trio of kills by Traylor. But the Anteaters responded, taking a 20-19 lead before a block from Robinson and Jefferies tied things up at 20. A kill by Jefferies and a UC Irvine attack error kept the Titans within one, 23-22, but the Anteaters scored the next two to take the third, 25-22, and complete the sweep.

Up next, the Titans remain home to take on UC San Diego tomorrow, Saturday, November 19th. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m. PT.
