Volleyball Adds Five Newcomers to 2019 Squad

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton head women's volleyball coach Ashley Preston has added five newcomers to the program for the upcoming 2019 season.

"The talent and athleticism of this recruiting class will upgrade every position and give us quality depth," Preston said. "I can't wait for the fall; the competition in the gym is going to be so much fun to watch."

Dominique Velarde
She is a libero from Daly City, Calif. and played volleyball all four years at Summit Shasta High School. As a junior she was named Team MVP and earned all-league accolades. She also had a 4.0 GPA or better in three of her four years. She played club ball with the San Francisco Tremors and Vision Volleyball Club.

Elizabeth Schuster
A native of Signal Hill, Calif., Schuster was a member of the volleyball team all four years at nearby Long Beach Poly. As a setter, she earned first-team all-league honors as a junior and was named to the honor roll three of her four years. JuJu Smith-Schuster of the Pittsburgh Steelers is her cousin.

Ally Euston
Euston hails from Glendora and currently attends Glendora High School where she played volleyball for four years, two at the varsity level. The setter helped lead the team to league championships during her junior and senior campaigns. Additionally, she earned all-academic honors in 2017 and 2018. Played for the Pacific Juniors club team.

Danielle Jefferies
A native of Reedley, Calif., Jefferies played volleyball all four years at Immanuel High School. As an outside hitter, Jefferies helped lead the team to a runner-up finish at the State Championships. During her junior campaign, Jefferies garnered second-team all-league accolades as the team won the Central Section Championships. Named Team MVP as a senior and the Immanuel Volleyball Player of the Year. She earned Academic Honors with distinction all four years.

Julia Crawford
An outside hitter from Lakewood, Calif., played volleyball all four years at Lakewood High School. She earned second-team all-league honors as a sophomore and junior. She earned Athlete of the Week honors during both her junior and senior years. Academically, Crawford was an Honor Roll member all four years. Her sister, Eliza, played softball at Fullerton from 2011-15 and her brother, John Paul, is currently playing for the Seattle Mariners Triple-A affiliate, Tacoma Rainiers.
