NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Madeline Schneider continued her successful 2017 campaign on Friday night, securing her eighth double-double of the season, but Cal State Fullerton dropped a 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-19) decision to CSUN at the Matadome.
Schneider led Fullerton (5-21, 1-12 Big West) with 12 kills and 12 digs, marking her 14th double-figure kill game and her 10th double-digit dig contest. Summer Kerins followed closely with seven kills on a spectacular .667 attack percentage, while just committing one error.
Savahna Costello matched Schneider with a team-high equaling 12 digs for her 15th double-figure dig game of the year. Makenzi Ableman rounded out Fullerton's top performers with a team-best 27 assists.
As has happened so many times this year, the Titans came out ready to play, posting an extremely competitive first set, posting a .324 team attack percentage. Unfortunately, after getting within 23-22, CSUN (11-14, 5-8 Big West) scored back-to-back points to claim the set 25-22.
The Matadors carried its positive momentum into the second set, as they put together their best hitting performance of the match, attacking a match-best .419 percent. They eventually claimed a 25-14 second set win to claim a convincing 2-0 overall advantage.
It was more of the same in the third set, Fullerton grabbed a slim lead early, but CSUN managed to pull away in the end for a 25-19 third set win to claim the match 3-0.
The Titans will be back in action tomorrow against Big West rival Long Beach State. The two sides will clash at 7 pm PT inside The Pyramid.
