IRVINE, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton libero Savahna Costello (Riverside, Calif./La Sierra HS) totaled 73 digs in four matches to claim Big West Women's Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week accolades, the league office announced on Monday.
Costello provided steady defense for the Titans at the Towson Tiger Invitational, helping steer them to a 2-2 record. She earned all-tournament honors after averaging 5.21 digs per set. Her top performance came against Eastern Michigan as she tallied 27 digs, her second-best single-match total this season. Costello registered 18 digs against host Towson and 12 more in a sweep of Lafayette. She ended the tournament with 16 scoops in a four-set victory over Quinnipiac. In addition, Costello strung together three straight matches with three aces, as she averaged 0.64 aces per set for the tourney.
